Scion Certified Pre-Owned

All Scion certified pre-owned vehicles have been repaired or reconditioned to meet Scion's exacting standards. Factory-trained Scion technicians do all the work on the Scion cars to ensure the quality and reliability of the Scion name. Only those used Scion vehicles that are younger than six years old and have less than 85,000 miles will be considered for certified status. Each one must pass a rigorous 160-point quality assurance inspection.

160 point inspection

As part of this inspection process the entire vehicle is checked over. The areas covered in this check are:

  • Emissions and state inspections
  • Frame, structure and underbody
  • Engine compartment
  • Battery system
  • Engine Coolant and HVAC system
  • Braking System
  • Transmission and transaxle
  • Steering system
  • Tires & suspension system
  • Interior and Exterior condition and appearance
  • Lighting and electrical systems, including audio
  • Instrument panel and electronics

Another aspect to this inspection is the vehicle history. Scion runs a full CARFAX vehicle history report and checks for outstanding special service campaigns. The vehicle history report is available at the time of purchase for the buyer to see and it can be very detailed depending on the vehicle. Some of the information in the report will say how many previous owners there were and how the vehicle was used (private party, lease or a taxi, for example). Other valuable information includes information on whether the vehicle was involved in a major accident, flood or fire.
